collaborations
I shine when working with other artists, whether they work in performance, 2-D, 3-D, or time-based art. Multi, Inter, and Trans-discipline collaborations bring out a level of excellence in peers and the subsequent creations are almost always a surprise. Art should have an element of unpredictability to it.
My current collaboration is with Kate Harris (pictured here at the left) of 4Elements Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. The project is called “Daughters of the Revolution” and focuses on questions of body autonomy, social acceptance, and other issues in today’s modern institutionalized maternity culture. While the play being created focuses on the Irish experience, I believe that the messages presented and the questions being asked have a worldwide audience. In this I am creating a body of woodcuts to compliment the research and the resulting play to create a multiday experience and conversation around the questions presented.

TENSION
This was an experiment in the tensions on both sides of a viewing glass.
The Tent Gallery of the University of Edinburgh has five large windows facing two angles of a busy street. This allows for a great degree of voyeurism on the street side during exhibitions. I had begun to experiment with engagng people through the glass at the first exhibition of the year, Nourishment. The results were curious and I continued onto Tension.
This was a series of improvised rope bondage performances over a week. The first evening was two hours and the subsequent nights were a half hour a piece. I wanted to create a show with the feel of a 1960's Happening. This would also only be documented by photograph to preserve the idea of "You had to be there!". I had five lovely victims...volunteers, they were volunteers.. who were amazing and dynamic as well as four wonderful photographers to document the Happening. the reactions were priceless, and in some cases curious and violent.
I am currently compiling the photos and writing about the experience for a publication on the event. More to come soon!
